Paul Mankiewich is a proven and highly accomplished senior executive and consultant in the telecommunications industry.
Formerly Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Cisco’s Mobility business as well as VP of Research, Paul brings over 30 years of global experience in the industry, with a focus on wireless. At Cisco he was an industry champion for network function virtualization, virtualized RAN, Wifi and small cell integration, and next generation networking protocols such as ICN, all feeding a comprehensive view of the evolution to 5G. An industry veteran, he has held leadership and key technology positions throughout his career.
Prior to Cisco, Paul served as Service Provider CTO at Juniper Networks where he was responsible for end-to-end network vision and architecture across all of Juniper’s products and their insertion into service provider networks. Before that he spent over 10 years in various CTO roles at Alcatel-Lucent, where he was responsible for end-to-end technology strategy and product solutions and received numerous awards for product innovation. In addition, he served as Senior Vice President of Networking Research at Bell Laboratories.
Paul has made significant contributions to the mobile industry and has authored well over 100 technical papers related to wireless, networking and devices. Additionally, he has been an active spokesperson and member of key industry organizations including the FCC TAC, ATIS Executive Board and Board of Directors, and Chair of the TOPS Council.
He holds a PhD degree in Applied Physics from Boston University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Stony Brook.
