John is an Associate with Plum and provides specialist advice in relation to radio spectrum management and engineering. John’s areas of expertise include modelling of spectrum requirements for mobile networks, analysing future spectrum demand for emerging applications, assessing coexistence between wireless technologies and international benchmarking of spectrum regulation. John has undertaken studies for a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world, focussing on meeting the growing demand for radio spectrum to support growth in existing markets such as mobile data and supporting new applications such as machine to machine communications (M2M).
John’s advice has played an important role in the development of both national and international spectrum policies, for example in relation to the refarming of former broadcast spectrum to support mobile demand growth, identifying opportunities for wireless services to share radio spectrum, balancing the spectrum needs of private and public sector spectrum users and ensuring sufficient spectrum to support licence exempt radio applications such as Wi-Fi into the future.
John is a Chartered Electrical Engineer, Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (UK) and he holds an Honours Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
