Tim Miller and Laura Wilkinson presented a Showcase Session on accounting for the social value of spectrum at the 15th annual European Spectrum Management Conference.

The session highlighted the social value delivered by telecommunications and the factors determining operators’ private value of spectrum. It also discussed adaptation of existing spectrum valuation methods and the role of licence obligations to deliver the benefits of spectrum and telecommunications to society.  Questions were asked about how we can understand the value and cost of social obligations, and whether these can be accounted for in standard auction processes.
