Michael Cosgrave has extensive expertise in the formulation and application of economic regulation across a range of sectors, with a particular focus on communications, but also in energy, water and transport markets.
Michael held senior managerial and advisory positions, principally in infrastructure regulation, with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) for many years. Michael’s most recent role at the ACCC as Chief Infrastructure Advisor included the provision of strategic advice to Government. He has also headed the ACCC’s Infrastructure Division and Communications Group and was the most senior official at the ACCC on telecommunications and media regulation for over 20 years with responsibility for competition and consumer law issues as well as economic regulation.
Michael has worked extensively with other regulators and operators at a senior level and has a keen appreciation of the challenges of regulation at different stages of market development.
Michael holds Law and Arts degrees from the University of Melbourne and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
