Val Jervis spoke at the 2nd Annual Middle East and North Africa Spectrum Management Conference in Rabat

Val Jervis spoke at the 2nd Annual Middle East and North Africa Spectrum Management Conference in Rabat on 28 August where she presented on the opportunities and constraints associated with the UHF spectrum.

The conference followed on from the ASMG meeting where there had been discussions on potential bands, including UHF, for mobile broadband as part of the Arab States’ preparations for WRC-15. As part of the presentation, Val provided an overview of a recent study conducted by Plum for the GSMA (which can be found here). The study identified that, based on current analogue terrestrial broadcasting requirements, there was the potential to release spectrum above 582 MHz for other services once digital switch-over had been completed, and that making mobile and broadcasting co-primary in the 470 – 694 MHz band would afford future flexibility. The presentation can be accessed below.
