Tim Miller spoke at an industry workshop in Egypt on the potential impact of mobile broadband

Tim Miller presented the results of Plum’s study into the economic and social benefits that can be realised from mobile broadband in Egypt to a roundtable of industry and government leaders, including the Minister of Communications and Information Technology and the Executive President of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, alongside the CEOs of all mobile network operators in the country.

Plum’s study, which can be found here, found that mobile broadband will face a shortage of capacity in the near future in Egypt, and by taking necessary action now the Egyptian government could alleviate these constraints, leading to economic benefit of around EGP310billion and further social and cultural benefits.  Tim’s presentation explored the key constraining factors, which include a shortage of suitable spectrum and an uncertain regulatory environment.  The presentation slides can be accessed via the link below.
