McLaren were interested in identifying alternative spectrum options to their current telemetry solution for F1 racing which would support significantly more monitoring etc. of the cars. The study investigated and advised on potential availability of spectrum bands suitable for supporting mobile telemetry operations required at all the Grand Prix racing circuits. A wide range of frequencies was considered including 900MHz, 1800 MHz and 2 GHz already awarded for mobile and other potential bands such as white spaces in the YV bands, L-band (1452 – 1492 MHz) and the space band at 2025 – 2110 and 2200 – 2290 MHz.
